PM Calls for Improved Human Resources to Attract Investment

Phnom Penh: Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet underscored the importance of improving the quality of human resources, emphasizing its role in attracting investment and fostering national prosperity.

During the concluding remarks at the 2023 General Assembly of the Ministry of Industry, Science, Technology, and Innovation, held on Wednesday afternoon, February 21, 2024, the Prime Minister emphasized the critical role of human capital in the nation's progress. Despite Cambodia's modest size and population, he highlighted the strategic importance of investing in the populace's skills and knowledge.

The Prime Minister acknowledged the constraints in government spending, pointing out the lack of a direct budget for citizen distribution. However, he underscored the government's commitment to fostering employment opportunities, with a keen focus on bolstering small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) as a vital step towards this goal.

"For our economy to thrive, it's imperative to empower the private sector," he stated, suggesting that collaboration between the private sector and the Royal Government could unleash significant potential and deliver extensive benefits to the Cambodian people.

This call to action underlines a strategic shift towards human resource development and private sector empowerment, aiming to position Cambodia as a compelling destination for investment and economic development.
